Cavitation

When using the continuity equation and combining it with Bernoulli’s equation you should make note that when the fluids velocity changes the initial pressure inside the pipe will change, or in other words the faster the velocity of the fluid the lower the pressure, and vice-versa. This can cause issues when it is a liquid flowing through the pipe. The reason why is because if the pressure becomes too low the liquid will start to boil or in other words cavitate and turn into a gas. When this happens the piping could become damaged and fail prematurely.
